Simone Niggli | | Simone won again in the chasing start race, the last race of the Nordic Orienteering Tour. Next for her is O-Ringen, and then WOC in Trondheim. Simone is hoping for more medals. _ I hope to get a medal in the relay and one individual, says Simone. But twice in the past she has also got four out of four possible golds at WOC – in her home country Switzerland in 2003 and in Japan two years later. Simone started in front of all the other runners in the last race of the Tour, but at the third control she had quite a big miss. – I lost about one and a half minutes, she says. – Did you look behind you then? – No, I focused on the rest of the race, she says. For overall victory in the Nordic Orienteering Tour she got 6000 Euro. At the end of the coming month she could be getting a lot more prize money. She will take part in O-Ringen in Sweden. – It's good competition just before WOC with a lot of races, she says. It's also Nordic terrain like it is in Trondheim, and over the past 10 days Simone has really showed again that she is also very good in that type of terrain. Annika Billstam from Sweden took second place overall and Marianne Andersen, Norway was third. |
